First Middle East's Online Safety Conference
In an effort to ignite an online safety initiative across the Gulf region, the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) sponsored the first conference dedicated to online safety in the Middle East. The conference, titled "Creating a National Consensus for Online Safety" took place at the end of April in the Kingdom of Bahrain and brought together Internet experts from around the world.
In the conference Bahraini Internet Service Providers (ISPs) launched their initiative to create a 'National Consensus for Online Safety' with other high-level stakeholders in the country. This plan will encourage others in the region to develop their own internet safety initiatives. Representatives from governments, policymakers, head-teachers, legislators, law enforcement, Internet experts and child advocates attended the conference.
