NY: lower penalties for sexting

NY State Senate voted to lessen the penalties for sexting - sending sexually explicit text messages or images.

Under the new laws, two consenting minors, less than four years apart in age, caught sexting would not be considered sex offenders. The Assembly is considering a similar bill.

Prosecutors say cases between consenting minors would probably not even be prosecuted under the new laws, and punishment would be left up to the parents is such cases.
