FBI will use social networks to target cyber criminals
The FBI recently announced that it intends to use social networks to target online criminal activities. The FBI will mostly look at information made public by account holders, but it may consider undercover work when needed.
Facebook often grants FBI agents accounts to investigate potential threats on its network, while MySpace requires search warrants for any message older than 181 days, and Twitter provides no contact information.
The crimes the FBI plans to investigate range from inappropriate conversations between a minor and an adult, through cyberbullying and on to the use of malware.
