UK: One in five 10- and 11-year-olds say they have been bullied online or by phone.
A recent study conducted by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) of 227 children in south east England shows the following regarding primary school children:
- One in five 10- and 11-year-olds said they had been bullied online or by phone.
- Many in this age group admitted they used social networking sites, even though users should be over 13.
Another study conducted in October 2009 shows that:
- Nearly nine in ten parents thought cyber bullying was just as serious as other types of bullying.
- About half of those parents said they had not talked to their children about how to protect themselves from cyber bullying
